Regional variation in skin permeability in different body sites may be related to skin thickness, number of cell layers, cell size of the epidermis and stratum corneum, and distribution of hair follicles and sweat pores. In this context, this is crucial to study and preserve the histological integrity of the skin in order to evaluate and compare a molecular penetration.
ImaBiotech has developed an extensive knowledge in this field since 10 years (cf: publications) and is using as a daily routine the molecular imaging, histology and data science platforms.
We are able to visualize the biodistribution of any molecule in skin sections and confirm its penetration. Additionally we can finely compare the depth profiles of a molecule depending on a specific formulation. It is thus possible to confirm the depth of penetration, the specific accumulation in the sebaceous glands, hair follicles, etc.
