ImaBiotech CORP is pleased to announce the hiring of David Calligaris as the Laboratory Manager of the US facility. Dr. David Calligaris has been trained as a Biochemist since his Bachelor degree. During his Ph.D. at Aix-Marseille University (France), he developed mass spectrometry-based approaches for protein characterization by MALDI mass spectrometry and for quantitative analysis of protein complexes by bead-based affinity proteomics.

During his postdoctoral fellowship at LiÇùge University (Belgium), he continued to develop protein characterization approaches using Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MSI). He also studied breast tumor heterogeneity by MALDI-FTICR MSI and classical lipidomics to characterize low-abundant phospholipid species that are markers of necrosis, inflammation and proliferating tumor cells.

As a Research Fellow at Brigham and Womenƒ?Ts Hospital/Harvard Medical School, he contributed to the development of mass spectrometry as an intraoperative tool for near real-time diagnosis of brain and breast tumors during surgery in the Advanced Multimodality Image Guided Operating (AMIGO) suite. In collaboration with local and national research groups, he was also performing drug development researches using mass spectrometry-based pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic approaches. In addition, he was a mass spectrometry consultant for a private investor and collaborated with drug discovery teams of pharmaceutical companies bringing his expertise in mass spectrometry imaging to study small molecule distribution in biological samples.

As a Laboratory Manager, he will be responsible for the overall scientific activity of the ImaBiotech US facility. He will also be in charge of the project coordination but also the development of new analytical chemistry tools and processes. His numerous awards are proof of his recognised expertise in Mass Spectrometry Imaging.
